Badlands Trip - Cancelled
June 15-23, 2013

Because we didn’t have enough people who could go, the Badlands Trip had to be cancelled.

June Canoe Outing
June 21-23, 2013

To be allowed to canoe you must be at least a Class B (Beginner) swimmer.

Meet at ETC on Friday, June 21 at 7:30 AM. Returning to ETC Sunday, June 23 around 4 pm.
Cost: $40 / person

Personal gear: the normal two -night camping (no cots). It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED putting everything in plastic zip-lock bags.

Summer Camp
July 7-13, 2013

TRAILER PACK: Gear check/drop is SATURDAY, July 6. Be prepared to leave your bag! You will be told what (if anything) you are missing so you can bring it on Sunday. A suggested gear list for Summer Camp is available on the Troop 4 website or in the Camp Long Lake Web Site.

Health Forms: Starting at the June 11 troop meeting, there will be a list with who needs what in terms of Health Forms. See Liz if you have questions.

Medicine at Camp: If a scout needs to take medication while at camp, it must be in original bottles with the prescription label. You must also fill out the green half-sheet “Medication Card” listing each prescription. All medicines must be turned in with a Medication Card. Even Over the Counter medicines.

NOTE: Snorkeling at Summer Camp is not a merit badge, it is a scouting award.

ADULTS: 1st Aid & CPR certifications are not being offered at camp this year.

Court of Honor
August 25, 2013

SAVE THE DATE!

The Court of Honor is where your scout will be recognized for ALL the advancement he’s earned in the last six months. This Court of Honor will have the Summer Camp awards also. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings are all invited!

Support your scout! Come see what they’re doing and what they’re earning.

Adventure Rock
August 25-26, 2013

The Adventure Rock Overnight will be the night after the Court of Honor. Scouts 14 and older can earn the climbing merit badge. More information to follow.

A Note about Advancement & Service Hours

If your son does service outside of the troop, we will count it! A note about the dates, amount, a brief description and SIGNED by an adult (parent or leader of the service activity) need to be turned in. We cannot count hours that are just written (or added) to the back of the advancement sheets.

Advancement Requirements: there are only a couple that a parent can sign off on (such as Second Class #10). Otherwise, older scouts will teach and test their skills with a scoutmaster signing off. For First Class #5, a note signed by the person they talked to gets them credit.

A Note About Merit Badges & Blue Cards

As a reminder, it is a scouts responsibility to sign up for merit badges. This includes finding clinics or calling merit badge counselors and taking out and getting blue cards signed.

Occasionally the troop will announce merit badge opportunities or facilitate registration, but it is still the scouts responsibility to see that he has done the pre-requirements, has all the materials for the clinic, and taken out a blue card.
