July 16 Meeting

The July 16 troop meeting will be held at St. John Neumann. Please met there at the usual time. We will be doing service and upkeep on the various trails (Eagle projects) around the church.

St. John Neumann is located on the corner of Hwy 59 and CTH-X (St. Paul Road).

Court of Honor
August 25, 2013

SAVE THE DATE!

The Court of Honor is where your scout will be recognized for ALL the advancement he’s earned in the last six months. This Court of Honor will have the Summer Camp awards also. This is also the Court of Honor where we reassign the new scouts into their permanent patrols.

Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings are all invited!

Support your scout! Come see what they’re doing and what they’re earning.

Adventure Rock
August 25-26, 2013

The Adventure Rock will be the night after the Court of Honor. Scouts 14 and older can earn the climbing merit badge. More information to follow.

Webelos Jamoree
September 13-15, 2013

We’ll be running an Obstacle Course at Webelos Jamoree... Start thinking about the obstacles you’d like to have and suggest them to your patrol leader to take to the PLC.

Permission slips are available. Let’s have a GREAT representation to show off Troop 4. This is a way to show Webelos what Boy Scouts is all about.

Service Opportunity - Baloo
July 27, 2013

There is an opportunity to earn service hours. There will be a Baloo training for Cub Scout leaders on July 27. Liz needs 2-3 scouts to watch the Dutch ovens and help with the camp fire. Training runs 8:30 am to 4 pm if you’d like to help all day. Fire/Dutch oven help is from 9:30 an to 1 pm.

See Liz to sign up if you’re interested.

A Note about Advancement & Service Hours

If your son does service outside of the troop, we will count it! A note about the dates, amount, a brief description and SIGNED by an adult (parent or leader of the service activity) need to be turned in. We cannot count hours that are just written (or added) to the back of the advancement sheets.

Advancement Requirements: there are only a couple that a parent can sign off on (such as Second Class #10). Otherwise, older scouts will teach and test their skills with a scoutmaster signing off. For First Class #5, a note signed by the person they talked to gets them credit.

A Note About Merit Badges & Blue Cards

As a reminder, it is a scouts responsibility to sign up for merit badges. This includes finding clinics or calling merit badge counselors and taking out and getting blue cards signed.

Occasionally the troop will announce merit badge opportunities or facilitate registration, but it is still the scouts responsibility to see that he has done the pre-requirements, has all the materials for the clinic, and taken out a blue card.

Troop Elections

The semi-annual Trop Elections will be held in September. Start thinking about what positions you would like to h old and who you feel would make a good leader for your patrol or the troop.

July’s Quiz
