Troop 4 Klondike Day
February 1, 2014

This is the 6th Annual Klondike Day! We need LOTS of help -- both from Scouts and Parents! All scouts are expected to come. Our boys run the events -- and yes, they get to play too. Parents... We need adult supervision and help in the concession stand.

Pinewood Derbies
Next One: January 17, 2014

Troop 4 has a history of helping Packs with their pinewood derbies. Our boys work the track and shuttle cars to the Pack’s parents ALL get to see the races. The cub scouts LOVE seeing out guys and knowing one day that might be them. We run several over the spring

Pack 163 is January 17th. 6 pm at Bethesda Elementary.
Montessori School is February 27th. 6 pm at Montessori School on Summit.
Pack 4 is March 27. This will be at Lowell.
Pack 89 is March 30.

A Note about Advancement & Service Hours

If your son does service outside of the troop, we will count it! A note about the dates, amount, a brief description and SIGNED by an adult (parent or leader of the service activity) need to be turned in. We cannot count hours that are just written (or added) to the back of the advancement sheets.

Advancement Requirements: there are only a couple that a parent can sign off on (such as Second Class #10). Otherwise, older scouts will teach and test their skills with a scoutmaster signing off. For First Class #5, a note signed by the person they talked to gets them credit.

A Note About Merit Badges & Blue Cards

As a reminder, it is a scouts responsibility to sign up for merit badges. This includes finding clinics or calling merit badge counselors and taking out and getting blue cards signed.

Occasionally the troop will announce merit badge opportunities or facilitate registration, but it is still the scouts responsibility to see that he has done the pre-requirements, has all the materials for the clinic, and taken out a blue card.
