Rokilio Space Theme Outing
May 16-18, 2014

In May we’re visiting the theme camp Rokilio -- the Space Ship area... Fun activities are in the process of being planned by the PLC!

When: May 16-18... Meet at ETC on 5/16 at 4:30 pm, we’re leaving at 4:45. Return on 5/18 around 1pm.
Cost: $40 / person ($5 discount for signing up by April 22)

Money and permission slips are due May 13. Everyone going needs their Part A & B health forms.

Highway X Clean-Up
May 17, 2014

We had to postpone the clean up in April... But it’s been rescheduled! If you’re not going to Rokilio, come get service hours!

Meet at ETC at 10:00 am. We should be done by noon. The bigger the group we have working, the faster it will go.

June Kickapoo River Canoe Outing
June 6-8, 2014

Our June outing is canoeing on the Kickapoo River. We’ll canoe twice -- Saturday and Sunday -- two sections of the river.

Where: Kickapoo River
What: Canoeing and other scouting fun!
Cost: $50 / person - includes 2 days of canoeing

Permission Slips are up. Please have permission slips and money turned in by May 27.

Health Forms for Summer Camp

National just released an update to the Health Forms. If you have already had your doctor’s appointment and turned in Part C in 2014... You’re ok. For everyone else (which is everyone but one scout), you need to use the new forms. They can be found on the troop website (http://www.pacunits.org/t4/forms.html) or on the grey shelves at troop meetings.

Please turn in the Health Forms -- or let Liz know the date of your physical -- by the May 27th Troop Meeting.

Summer Camp Trailer Pack
July 5, 2014

The trailer gets packed the day before we leave for camp. Mr. Landquist has sent around helpful hints for packing and what gear is needed. There is also a suggested gear list on the troop’s website.

Bags will be inspected and lists of needed equipment (or things to be returned home) will be handed out. Forms and other information will be verified at the same time. Medications for the week at camp need to be in the original bottles with exactly the right amount for the week and a medication form (1/2 sheet green form) needs to be filled out -- even for common over-the-counter such as Benadryl if you expect your child to take it regularly at camp).

Nick’s Eagle Court of Honor
June 28, 2014

Congratulate Nick on earning his Eagle Rank! His Court of Honor will be June 28, 2014 at 11 am at St. John Neumann’s.

A Note about Advancement & Service Hours

If your son does service outside of the troop, we will count it! A note about the dates, amount, a brief description and SIGNED by an adult (parent or leader of the service activity) need to be turned in. We cannot count hours that are just written (or added) to the back of the advancement sheets.

Advancement Requirements: there are only a couple that a parent can sign off on (such as Second Class #10). Otherwise, older scouts will teach and test their skills with a scoutmaster signing off. For First Class #5, a note signed by the person they talked to gets them credit.

A Note About Merit Badges & Blue Cards

As a reminder, it is a scout’s responsibility to sign up for merit badges. This includes finding clinics or calling merit badge counselors and taking out and getting blue cards signed.

Occasionally the troop will announce merit badge opportunities or facilitate registration, but it is still the scout’s responsibility to see that he has done the pre-requirements, has all the materials for the clinic, and taken out a blue card.

Troop 4 Portal

Want to know how much money’s in your scout account? Can’t remember if you signed up for an outing? You can find out on-line.

We’re moving to a new Troop 4 Portal -- http://www.esitec.net/t4/t4portal. With the upgrade, you will need a user name & password to logon. The scouts have been pre-loaded. Parents... You can now have your own logon. If you have more than one scout in the troop, you can associate all your scouts with one user name!

The old Scout Account Balance page will be up through April. Email Liz with any questions.

Summer Camp
July 6-11, 2014

The cost is $330. Webelos that crossover and sign up by June 1st receive the $280 price.

Permission slips are out and available! Take advantage of the low price and sign up NOW. Sign up for Merit Badges are now available. Space in Merit Badges is limited. Sign up as soon as possible.
