Health Forms for Summer Camp

We’re less than a month from Summer Camp! There are still a LOT of scouts that need to turn in their Health Forms -- if you have not given Liz your Part C form, you MUST use the new forms for all three parts! The new forms can be found on the troop website (http://www.pacunits.org/t4/forms.html) or on the grey shelves at troop meetings.

Important Things Needed:

  • Parent & Scout signatures on Part A
  • Parent’s Signature on Part B under the medication list -- EVEN IF YOU DON’T TAKE MEDS. This authorizes the troop/camp to also give out over the counter medications.
  • Write the DATES for the immunizations in the space provided -- do not attach a separate sheet.
  • Part C has been SIGNED and DATED by the doctor after July 12, 2013. This is especially important that they put the date they signed (not just the examination date). Part C forms must be signed within 12 months of summer camp.
  • Include a copy of your insurance cards.

There is a list available at the troop meetings with who still needs information. Emails will be going out later this week. If you have your doctor’s visit scheduled, let Liz know.

Summer Camp Trailer Pack
July 5, 2014

The trailer gets packed the day before we leave for camp. Mr. Landquist has sent around helpful hints for packing and what gear is needed. There is also a suggested gear list on the troop’s website.

Bags will be inspected and lists of needed equipment (or things to be returned home) will be handed out. Forms and other information will be verified at the same time. Medications for the week at camp need to be in the original bottles with exactly the right amount for the week and a medication form (1/2 sheet green form) needs to be filled out -- even for common over-the-counter such as Benadryl if you expect your child to take it regularly at camp).

August Tubing Outing
Date... To Be Announced

The PLC is working on the date for the Tubing Outing. I hear they’ve picked the river and expect to have a lot of fun on the outing! Watch your email for more information and permission slips should be out in July.

OA Fall Conference
August 22-24, 2014

Calling all Ordermen! The OA Fall Conference is August 22-24th at Camp Long Lake. This is also when those who are called out at Summer Camp can do their Ordeal. See the Council’s or OA’s website for more information and to sign up.

Nick’s Eagle Court of Honor
June 28, 2014

Congratulate Nick on earning his Eagle Rank! His Court of Honor will be June 28, 2014 at 11 am at St. John Neumann’s.

A Note about Advancement & Service Hours

If your son does service outside of the troop, we will count it! A note about the dates, amount, a brief description and SIGNED by an adult (parent or leader of the service activity) need to be turned in. We cannot count hours that are just written (or added) to the back of the advancement sheets.

Advancement Requirements: there are only a couple that a parent can sign off on (such as Second Class #10). Otherwise, older scouts will teach and test their skills with a scoutmaster signing off. For First Class #5, a note signed by the person they talked to gets them credit.

A Note About Merit Badges & Blue Cards

As a reminder, it is a scout’s responsibility to sign up for merit badges. This includes finding clinics or calling merit badge counselors and taking out and getting blue cards signed.

Occasionally the troop will announce merit badge opportunities or facilitate registration, but it is still the scout’s responsibility to see that he has done the pre-requirements, has all the materials for the clinic, and taken out a blue card.

Troop 4 Portal

Want to know how much money’s in your scout account? Can’t remember if you signed up for an outing? You can find out on-line.

We’re moving to a new Troop 4 Portal -- http://www.esitec.net/t4/t4portal. With the upgrade, you will need a user name & password to logon. Parents... You can now have your own logon. If you have more than one scout in the troop, you can associate all your scouts with one user name!

Email Liz with any questions.
