Court of Honor
January 17, 2016

The Court of Honor is an important time in a Troop: we recognize all the hard work the boys have been doing -- not just those that earn merit badges and rank advancements but everyone who’s worked on their scouting skills and attended troop activities. Be aware the Court of Honor is coming and watch for the calendar and the date of the event.

Friends of Scouting
January 17, 2016

We will have our Friends of Scouting presentation and pledging at the Court of Honor. Without this event, the Council cannot put on programs like Summer Camp, Creep-o-Ree, they can’t keep Camp Long Lake the fabulous camp it is, and they can’t give our troop the support we need to run.

Fair Share (or Gold Club as it was once known) is the troop’s goal for our FOS. What do we get with Fair Share? We get all our rank patches for free, we get discounts to summer camp, we get priority registrations. Parents of scouts working on Eagle: it also gets the Eagle kits for free.

January Snow Sport & Electronics Cabin Outing
January 29-31, 2016

We’ve the Rotary cabin at Camp Long Lake for this outing. The boys will be having fun in the snow during the day and then getting to have electronics in the evenings. (Electronics meaning iPads and Gameboys… not whole computers.)

Where: Camp Long Lake
Cost: $35 / person

Permission Slips are available.

February Activities

With the unpredictable winter weather and everyone’s busy schedules, February will have several short outings rather than a weekend campout. Please watch for information on these activities as the month progresses.

See Jim Anderson if you are interested in helping coordinating one of these activities.

Summer Camp
June 26 - July 2, 2016

No, it’s not too early to be thinking about summer camp! Yes, it is earlier this year than last year.

PARENTS: To participate in Summer Camp, scouts must have a Class C (the doctor signed part) of the medical form signed within 12 months of camp. For a Class C form to qualify, it must have been signed (AND DATED BY THE DOCTOR) after June 1, 2015. Please when you get the doctor to sign, the date must be the date they reviewed/signed the form not the examination date. This has been a problem in the past with doctors only writing the date of the last exam rather than the date they reviewed/signed the form.

Also, Camp Long Lake would like to have as many medical forms turned in ahead of camp as possible. PLEASE get your forms to Liz by June 7th so she can get them sent to camp ahead of our arrival. This will make check-in go much easier.

Troop Shoot
April 2- - May 1, 2016

Permission slips are out! This event fills fast because it is a BLAST (almost literally). Scouts too young to participate in the troop shoot will work on scouting skills.

2016 Calendar

We have outings! The boys did a great job with planning our 2016 Calendar. Highlight events include: Scuba Discovery, Fox River Canoe/Kayak, Elroy-Sparta Bike Outing, and Devil’s Lake. Plus the Philmont Trek already scheduled.

Looking to 2017, there’s National Jamboree (sign up now through the Council) and the guys are working on a Mackinac Island Bike Trip.

Philmont 2016
August 7, 2016 for 12-Days!
