Summer Camp
June 26 - July 2, 2016

There’s still time to sign up for Summer Camp! Anyone who has signed up, merit badge signups are due now. Merit Badges are first-come-first-served, so make sure you get yours in!

PARENTS: To participate in Summer Camp, scouts must have a Class C (the doctor signed part) of the medical form signed within 12 months of camp. For a Class C form to qualify, it must have been signed (AND DATED BY THE DOCTOR) after June 1, 2015. Please when you get the doctor to sign, the date must be the date they reviewed/signed the form not the examination date. This has been a problem in the past with doctors only writing the date of the last exam rather than the date they reviewed/signed the form.

Also, Camp Long Lake would like to have as many medical forms turned in ahead of camp as possible. PLEASE get your forms to Liz by June 7th so she can get them sent to camp ahead of our arrival. This will make check-in go much easier.

Summer Camp Trailer Pack
June 25, 2016 - 12 pm

We’re packing the trailer (or trailers) the day before summer camp. Bring all your gear packed and ready to load. The SPL and PLC will be doing a bag-check. Items not needed at camp will be send home with you and you’ll get a list of things you might be missing.

If you can’t make the trailer pack, please arrange with your Patrol Leader and Mr. Landquist to get your gear checked and loaded ahead of time.

Spring Fundraiser

Product pick-up will be May 13 at 5-7 pm at ETC.

Please remember to deliver the product as soon as possible after pick-up.

June Bike Outing

We’re finalizing the details for the Bike outing. Watch at the troop meeting for the permission slip.

St. John Neumann Parish Festival

St. John Neumann Grounds Clean Up
July 12, 2016

We’ll be working on doing a clean up of the St. John Neumann grounds the 2nd Tuesday in July (in place of the troop meeting). Meet at St. John Neumann at 6:30 pm in the lower parking lot. We’ll be doing maintenance on the various paths as well as walking the grounds for trash. If you have a yard rake, work gloves, pruning sheers (small or large) please bring them.

May Canoe Outing

The PLC and Troop Committee are looking at changing the May outing. Other activities and the question of when the river clean-up occurs have made setting a weekend for the outing difficult. There is a possibility the outing may be cancelled or changed to a one-day trip. If you are interested in being an adult leader on the trip (as either an over-night or a one-day) please let Mr. Landquist know. Watch your email for more information as decisions are made.

Service Opportunities Coming Up

With the update to the Boy Scout program going into effect on January 1, the service requirements have been expanded. Here are the upcoming service opportunities in the Troop:

May 31 - Highway Clean Up (date may change)
June 4-5 - SJN Parish Festival
July 12 - SJN Grounds Clean-Up
August 30 - Highway Clean Up

Boy Scout Advancement Updates

Staring January 1, 2016, the Boy Scout rank requirements have been updated. Crossover scouts joining the troop after January 1 must use the new requirements.

Scouts already in the troop and working on Tenderfoot, Second Class, or First Class may continue on the old requirements through First Class until the end of December. Once they reach First Class, or if they have not finished by December 31, they must switch to the new requirements.

Scouts working on Star, Life and Eagle may finish their current rank with the old requirements until the end of December. Once they reach that rank, or if they have not finished by December 31, they must switch to the new requirements.
