July RenFaire Outing
July 15-17, 2016

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Thou are invited to partake of revelry and merriment at the Bristol Renaissance Faire July 15-17, 2016. Whilst thou take up the challenge? The merriment celebrates Scouts -- wear thine uniform to the event. We shalt be residing at Bong State Recreation Area and travelling to the Faire on Saturday.

Cost: $35/person for weekend (+ $10 late fee after July 12) | $15/person for RenFaire Only (+ $5 late fee after July 12)

Court of Honor
July 23, 2016

Mark your calendars! The Court of Honor will be July 23rd. Invite family and friends and recognize the hard work the Troop’s scouts have done in the last six month -- especially at Summer Camp!

Time: 4 - 6 pm
Where: Lowell Park

Bring a dish to pass, please let Liz know how many and what you’re bringing.

St. John Neumann Grounds Clean Up
July 12, 2016

We’ll be working on doing a clean up of the St. John Neumann grounds the 2nd Tuesday in July (in place of the troop meeting). Meet at St. John Neumann at 6:30 pm in the lower parking lot. We’ll be doing maintenance on the various paths as well as walking the grounds for trash. If you have a yard rake, work gloves, pruning sheers (small or large) please bring them.

Governor Dodge Outing
August 12-14, 2016

Not going to Philmont? There’s still troop activities to participate in! The troop is camping at Governor Dodge State Park August 12-14. Permission slips are out.

Cost: $30 / person (+$5 after July 26)

Webelos Jamoree
September 9-11, 2016

It’s that time of the year again, time to introduce Webelos to Boy Scouting. Webelos Jamoree is a great opportunity to show off how much fun it can be to be a boy scout!

Swamp Fox Outing
September 23-25, 2016

Come help out at Swamp Fox! Troop 4 is the service troop for the 2nd weekend of Swamp Fox. What does that mean? It means we help run events, demonstrate skills and generally assist the leaders in putting on a fabulous weekend for cub scouts. Oh... And we also get to sleep in the OA cabin -- no tents to set up.

Cost: $5 / person. Permission slips are available now.

Devil’s Lake Outing
September 30 - October 2, 2016

It’s the Badger Trail’s Devil’s Lake Hike! A fun-filled hiking weekend complete with a dance Saturday night at Devil’s Lake State Park.

Cost: $35 / person (+ $5 after September 13). Turn your permission slip in early and make sure you get in on the fun!

Service Opportunities Coming Up

With the update to the Boy Scout program going into effect on January 1, the service requirements have been expanded. Here are the upcoming service opportunities in the Troop:

July 12 - SJN Grounds Clean-Up
August 30 - Highway Clean Up
September 23-25 - Swamp Fox Outing

There will be one more high way clean up this year... Watch for the date.

Boy Scout Advancement Updates

Staring January 1, 2016, the Boy Scout rank requirements have been updated. Crossover scouts joining the troop after January 1 must use the new requirements.

Scouts already in the troop and working on Tenderfoot, Second Class, or First Class may continue on the old requirements through First Class until the end of December. Once they reach First Class, or if they have not finished by December 31, they must switch to the new requirements.

Scouts working on Star, Life and Eagle may finish their current rank with the old requirements until the end of December. Once they reach that rank, or if they have not finished by December 31, they must switch to the new requirements.
