Summer Camp
June 23, 2018 - Bag Drop
June 24-30, 2018 - Camp Week

Bag Drop is 2 PM Saturday June 23, 2018. If you aren’t sure what to pack, there is a packing list on the Troop’s website. If you cannot make Bag Drop, please see Mr. Landquist to drop your bag off earlier in the week.

Summer Camp Medical Forms

If you signed up for Summer Camp, we will need your Parts A/B/C medical forms ASAP. This is a 3-page form. Copies are available at the troop meeting. Liz will also have a list of what medical forms she has or what is needed on the forms.

Things to remember about the forms:

  1. Part C - Doctor’s signature needs to be after 6/1/17 for the form to be valid. If they put an exam date, please make sure the signature is also dated and after 6/1/17.
  2. Part A - Parents & scouts need to sign.
  3. Part B Immunization - Parents please includes dates for immunizations. An attached sheet is OK, but please WRITE the tetanus date on Part B of the form.
  4. Part B Allergies/Medications - Signature on the line authorizing administration of medications.
  5. Insurance Cards - copies of current insurance cards must be included with the medical forms.

Medication at Camp:

  1. You need to fill out the green half-sheet form that authorized medication dispensing and on what schedule.
  2. Send all medication in their original containers -- which should include medication name and dosing (and patient’s name if prescription medication). You will get any extra plus the containers returned at the end of the outing.
  3. DO NOT put any medications in your son’s gear bags. All medication - even over-the-counter - must be dispensed by an adult leader.

Summer Camp Drivers

We still need parents to drive scouts and gear up to Summer Camp. Sign up online at:

If you have questions, please let Liz know.

July Bike Outing
July 14-15, 2018

July’s planned outing is biking on the Elroy-Sparta State Trail. This is the one with the tunnels! It’s a great opportunity to start on -- or work towards -- the Cycling Merit Badge.

ALL PARTICIPANTS must wear a bike helmet and have their own bikes. If you are over 16 years old, you will need a Wisconsin State Trail Pass for both days -- this is not included in the cost of the outing.

Cost: $25 / person (+ $10 late fee after June 19)

Permission slips are out! Sign up now.

August Ren Faire Outing
August 24-26, 2018

We’ll be attending the Bristol RenFaire and camping at Bong Recreational Area. Spend a fun day in the 1600s! Family are welcome.

Cost: 13 and up: $40; Under 13: $30 (+ $10 late fee after July 24)

Permission slips are available.

Equipment Upgrades

There's a lot of background stuff that the troop needs. With the growing troop and the age of some of the equipment, we have a fair few needs: new patrol boxes, tents, and another (bigger) trailer.

Whoo hoo! In May we received donations of $455 -- we’ve almost reached the $600 matching donation. There’s still time to donate and help us reach the match goal.

Remember, this doesn’t get us everything but it’s a good start.

Service Opportunities

Clean Up at St. John Neumann - July 10th Troop Meeting (meet there instead of ETC)

EAGLE SCOUT PROJECTS -- the troop has a number of Life scouts that are working on their Eagle Projects. Watch for emails and sign ups at the troop meetings.

Highway Clean Up - Watch for the next clean up date

Seabase Crews

The final Seabase payment is past due! You should have been contacted by your Crew leadership. See Liz if you aren’t sure how much you still owe or what the last Seabase payment is. (Transportation payments are still pending, this is just the fees owed to Seabase.)

Health Forms! You MUST have a Class C (doctor signed) health form. Your Crew leadership has the list of whose health form is valid and who needs an updated form. (Hint: pretty much everyone needs an updated form.)

Scoutbook - Have You Logged In?

What does this mean? You can edit yours or your scout’s profile information (address, phone numbers, school & grade) inside Scoutbook! You can also see where your scout is in his advancement and what he needs to work on.

Don’t have access? Can’t find the invitation email? See Liz.

Got Advancement?

Looking to have requirements signed off? Remember, it’s up to you to seek out a scout First Class or Above to test and sign off on your requirements. Once they’ve dated and initialed your advancement sheet, drop it in the box and it will get recorded in Scoutbook. Not in the box or without the initials of whoever signed it off? It doesn’t get recorded.

What about Merit Badges? Once you decide you want to work on a badge, fill out a Blue Card and take it to Mr. Landquist to sign off. He’ll also help you find merit badge counselors. Having issues contacting a counselor? Let Mr. Landquist know so he can help find another counselor.

Lost & Found

Can’t find something after an outing? Check the Troop’s Lost & Found!

Items will remain in the lost & found for three months and then will be disposed of (either donated or trashed depending on the item and its condition).

June’s Quiz

  1. What does POTUS stand for?
  2. Deverall Island is one of the southernmost named islands is in what ice shelf?
  3. What is the nickname of Alcatraz Prison?

May’s Answers: 1) Absolute zero. 2) Rabies. 3) Aaron Burr.
