Scoutbook - Have You Logged In?

What does this mean? You can edit yours or your scout’s profile information (address, phone numbers, school & grade) inside Scoutbook! You can also see where your scout is in his advancement and what he needs to work on.

Don’t have access? Can’t find the invitation email? See Liz.

Got Advancement?

Looking to have requirements signed off? Remember, it’s up to you to seek out a scout First Class or Above to test and sign off on your requirements. Once they’ve dated and initialed your advancement sheet, drop it in the box and it will get recorded in Scoutbook. Not in the box or without the initials of whoever signed it off? It doesn’t get recorded.

What about Merit Badges? Once you decide you want to work on a badge, fill out a Blue Card and take it to Mr. Landquist to sign off. He’ll also help you find merit badge counselors. Having issues contacting a counselor? Let Mr. Landquist know so he can help find another counselor.

Camp Long Lake Update

At the end of August, storms tore through the Long Lake area. The result? There are approximately 500 trees down at Camp Long Lake; overhead power lines were snapped; and there was some damage to a few of the buildings.

Evaluations by Council staff have shown that it is too dangerous and too much for volunteers to effect a clean up at this time. They are speaking with logging companies about coming in to clear up the fallen logs and those still partially suspended. Estimates are this will take at least 2 months.

That means all events that were scheduled for Camp Long Lake this fall are finding other venues. Watch your email and the Camp Long Lake and Potawatomi Area Council websites for updates about camp and where events will be held. Right now, things are being rescheduled all the way through the beginning of December.

September’s Quiz

  1. What London square was named for a 1805 naval victory?
  2. What hardware or software barrier is used to prevent unauthorized persons from accessing your computer?
  3. What does a cartographer do?

August’s Answers: 1) Princess Peach. 2) One - Washington. 3) Richard III (in 1485).
