2020 Troop Dues

As you likely have heard, the Boy Scouts of America voted on October 23 to increase their fees. This entire amount goes to the national organization and the rate is solely set by the national executive board without our local council's or unit's input.

At the November committee meeting, the Committee discussed the Troop dues. We understand this is both a frustration (with the timing of National's announcement being after fundraising) and that the increase from National was substantial.

The Committee has adopted the following for the Troop's 2020 dues:
Troop Dues are $75.
       * $60 for National dues
       * $0 for Council dues
       * $15 for Troop dues
Boy's Life will be OPTIONAL for a cost of $12.
For adults wishing to pay for their registration it is $36.

Thank you for your understanding as we worked through the monkey-wrench National threw at us.

4G Planning Event
November 16, 2020

4G is holding their 2020 calendar planning event on November 16. See Mrs. Tahtinen for details.

4B Eagle Cave
December 7-8, 2020

Spend a fun night exploring and sleeping in a cave!

Cost $65 / person. Permission slips are out!

** It’s best to buy clothes from Goodwill for this outing as you cannot wear anything you wore in this cave to another cave in the U.S. And it is rather messy to explore the cave. **

4G Winter Blast Service Day
December 14, 2019

4G is helping out at December’s Winter Blast at Johnson Creek High School, Johnson Creek, WI working with Bear Chairs.

Kits for Bear Chairs will be put together December 8. If you would also like to assist with this see Mr. Uhan for the time and location

Date to be Announced

Watch for more information. This is a social event for adult leaders and parents.

4B 2020 Calendar

We have activities! The scouts picked their 2020 events and activities. The calendar will be distributed at the Parent Meeting -- watch for the announcement of the date of the meeting.

IMPORTANT -- we still need your help! These events aren’t possible without adult support. Making reservations, taking leadership of an event, and attending are all items that the troop needs or cancellations will need to happen.

Got Advancement?

Looking to have requirements signed off? Remember, it’s up to you to seek out a scout First Class or Above to test and sign off on your requirements. Once they’ve dated and initialed your advancement sheet, drop it in the box and it will get recorded in Scoutbook. Not in the box or without the initials of whoever signed it off? It doesn’t get recorded.

What about Merit Badges? Once you decide you want to work on a badge, fill out a Blue Card and take it to Mr. Landquist or Mrs. Tahtinen to sign off. They’ll also help you find merit badge counselors. Having issues contacting a counselor? Let Mr. Landquist or Mrs. Tahtinen know so he can help find another counselor.

November’s Quiz

  1. What does NaNoWriMo stand for?
  2. Wimbledon is now synonymous with tennis, but what was the original sport played on its lawns?
  3. Narwhals are called the "unicorns of the sea" for their large spiraled horns. However, horn is a bit of a misnomer. What is the "horn" protruding from a narwhal's head?

October’s Answers: 1) Alan Shepard. 2) A dolphin, also known as orcas. 3) The Battle of First Manassas.
