FOS Update

Congratulations to 4G! They made their FOS goal for 2020 of $675.

4B... Is halfway there, raising $2,250 of their goal of $4,050.

There’s still time to contribute! Friends of Scouting supports Council programs and facilities that aren’t covered with direct registration costs. Even a $10 donation goes a long way to helping the Council. Donate on-line at: http://www.pacbsa.org/event/donate-to-scouting/1811835 or see Liz for brochures.

The troops see some benefits as well... When we reach our goal, we receive all the cloth rank patches and all Eagle Kits for free.

Waukesha Rotary Pancake Festival
February 15, 2020

It’s a service opportunity: Assist the Waukesha Rotary clubs at their annual Pancake Festival. Troop leadership will be working from 10 am to 1:30 pm. Come in uniform. Scouts who work will eat free -- anyone else Dean Danner has tickets available for pre-sale.

Scouting for Food Outing
March 13-15, 2020

It’s the first tent camping weekend! 4B & 4G will camp “in the backyard” -- we’ll work on camping and outdoor skills. We’ll be picking up the Scouting for Food bags on Saturday. And the summer camp swimming pre-test will take place this weekend as well.

If you’re going to Summer Camp -- even if you can’t come to the whole weekend, try to make the swimming pre-test.

Cost: $25 / person (+$5 late fee after February 25) for weekend
$8 / person swimming only

Permission Slips are Here

Troop Shoot
April 24-26, 2020

4B & 4G will be participating in Troop Shoot! Enjoy a fun weekend shooting rifle, shotgun, and archery. Competitions will be divided by age groups for scouts 12 and up. Trophies will be given through 3rd place.

Too young to shoot? This is an opportunity to camp with the troop before Summer Camp and work on your outdoor and scout skills.

Cost: $65 / shooting scout (+$10 late fee after March 24)
$20 / adult or non-shooting scout (+$5 late fee after March 24)

Permission Slips are Available

Medical Form Update

At the beginning of the year, National came out with an updated Class A/B/C medical forms. The new forms are available linked on the troop website.

Previously turned in medical forms (dated prior to 1/1/20) will still be valid until their expiration date (the end of the month 1 year after the date they were signed) but any new forms need to be on the updated form.

As we head into Summer Camp and you are getting your physicals, please download the new forms to take with you to be signed.

Summer Camp 220
June 21-27, 2020

Save the Date! 4B & 4G will be at Camp Long Lake the week of June 21-28, 2020. Permission slips will be available in January, the merit badge sign ups will be available after the Long Lake Chili Supper in February.

Permission slips are now available

NYLT - National Youth Leadership Training
Course: June 28 - July 3, 2020

Learn about leadership and put those skills to practice during a week of fun and fellowship. Have you heard the adults talking about Wood Badge? This is the course for the scouts!

Interested in more information: The Ice Cream Social is March 8, 2020 @ the Council Service Center @ 1 pm.

Also... NYLT scouts receive a discount for attending Summer Camp with the Troop!

The troop provides $100 scholarship towards the cost of NYLT for those scouts that apply. More information is available on the Troop Website.

Got Advancement?

Looking to have requirements signed off? Remember, it’s up to you to seek out a scout First Class or Above to test and sign off on your requirements. Once they’ve dated and initialed your advancement sheet, drop it in the box and it will get recorded in Scoutbook. Not in the box or without the initials of whoever signed it off? It doesn’t get recorded.

What about Merit Badges? Once you decide you want to work on a badge, fill out a Blue Card and take it to Mr. Landquist or Mrs. Tahtinen to sign off. They’ll also help you find merit badge counselors. Having issues contacting a counselor? Let Mr. Landquist or Mrs. Tahtinen know so he can help find another counselor.
