Let’s see if we can’t have a raring fall fundraiser! Many didn’t get the opportunity to sell in the spring because of COVID -- this is your chance to earn some money for outings and dues.

We’re selling: Pectaconica River Popcorn, Berres Brother Coffee, Racine Kringle, and Winter Wood Wreaths. Forms will be available at the September 15 Troop meeting. Sale starts September 18 (do not sell prior to this date).

There will be show & sell product available for scouts to check out. See Boni or Liz to pick it up.

Orders are due entered into the troop system by October 13 and all money is due at the October 13 troop meeting. All non-sold show & sell product is to be returned on this date. You are responsible for returning or paying for all product.

Login information for the on-line system will be sent the week of September 20th.

National Dues Increase

We have already been notified that the National portion of dues will be increasing to $66 / scout ($42 / adult) for 2021.

The troop has not yet discussed if Troop dues are increasing. We have also not yet heard if the Council will be adding dues.

Please keep this in mind as you are preparing to fundraise. Scout account funds can be used to pay for dues.

Recharter / Registration for 2021

Recharter information will be emailed around in October. Please go into Scoutbook and verify that your email addresses are correct -- those are the email addresses the information will be sent to

In-Person Troop Meetings

We’re going to continue meeting in-person as troops but continue to do so responsibly. Both units will be following simple guidelines addressed in Mrs. Danner’s May 31st email.

Things to remember:

  1. Monitor your personal and family health. Before every meeting: that your scout or family hasn’t had a fever in the last 2 weeks, hasn’t been sick in the last 2 weeks, and currently have no fever.
  2. Temperatures will be scanned before entering meeting space.
  3. Continue good hand washing / sanitizing practices - with additional washing / sanitizing as activities require.
  4. Wear a cloth mask or face covering: whenever inside a building or when within 6 feet of another person.
  5. Disinfect surfaces after each meeting.

The troop leadership will continue to monitor the situation, feedback from parents, and recommendations of health officials.

Medical Form Update

At the beginning of the year, National came out with an updated Class A/B/C medical forms. The new forms are available linked on the troop website. Medical forms of the old format (dated prior to 1/1/20) will still be valid until their expiration date (the end of the month 1 year after the date they were signed) but any new forms need to be on the updated form.

As you are getting your physicals (for well-checks or sports), please download the new forms to take with you to be signed.

Troop Elections

4G held their Spring elections in May for a short term. Both 4B & 4G will have their next troop elections at the end of September with terms starting October 1.

Got Advancement?

Looking to have requirements signed off? Remember, it’s up to you to seek out a scout First Class or Above to test and sign off on your requirements. Once they’ve dated and initialed your advancement sheet, drop it in the box and it will get recorded in Scoutbook. Not in the box or without the initials of whoever signed it off? It doesn’t get recorded.

What about Merit Badges? Once you decide you want to work on a badge, fill out a Blue Card and take it to Mr. Landquist or Mrs. Tahtinen to sign off. They’ll also help you find merit badge counselors. Having issues contacting a counselor? Let Mr. Landquist or Mrs. Tahtinen know so he can help find another counselor.

September’s Quiz

  1. Who painted the fresco ceiling of the Sistine Chapel?
  2. What is the biggest holiday of the year in terms of greeting-card sales?
  3. What creature with the head and wings of an eagle and body of a lion guarded gold from the Arimaspians?

August’s Answers: 1) Compass. 2) Pizza. 3) Little tongues.
