Ski Outing

TBA - Looking at January 3, 2010

We are looking at organizing a Cross Country Ski Outing tentatively for January 3, 2010. But we need scouts to help. More information will come out during December, watch your emails and at troop meetings.

Bad Weather Policy

As we move into winter, the Troop would like to make everyone aware of our policies for canceling meetings.

If Waukesha Public Schools close for inclement weather (snow, severe cold, etc) as reported on local TV and radio stations or their websites, the Troop will not have a meeting -- this includes if schools close for weather in the middle of the day.

If you feel unsafe driving, please do not come to the meetings. Your safety is a priority.

For outings: we will monitor the weather leading up to outings and will call or email if the outing will be cancelled or changed.

January Cabin Camp
January 8-10, 2010

We'll be staying in the Kiwanis Cabin at Long Lake for this year's Winter Cabin Camp.

Cost: $20

Scouts who wish to earn a part of the Polar Bear award need to see a Scoutmaster BEFORE the outing to show that they understand what gear is needed and what precautions to take for outdoor winter camping.

Activities will be both indoors and outdoors. Pack accordingly. Also BSA recommends that anyone sledding or skiing wear a helmet -- if you plan on sledding, you need to bring one.

Parents: we are looking for some extra help as there is another activity that Dean & Boni would like to go to on the morning of Saturday, January 9. Extra leaders will be needed during that time.

Permission slips are available.

Cub-o-Ree
January 16, 2010

Come help at the Fox River District Cub-O-Ree! Boy scouts are needed to help the cub scouts at this event. You'll earn service hours towards your next rank advancement. See Liz if you're interested in helping.

2010 OA Dues

2010 OA Membership Dues are due by December 15th. You can pay for your dues out of your scout account. Fill out the form and turn it in to Liz.

Wreath & Popcorn Money

Is due back to the Troop December 8th or as soon thereafter dropped off at ETC for Liz. The Council is depositing the Troop's check for the product on December 11th.

Summer Camp
July 25-31, 2010

No, it's not too early to be thinking about Summer Camp. The early bird gets the biggest discount.

The Troop will be going to Camp Long Lake this year, the week of July 25-31, 2010.

There will be a packing day July 24th to pack the trailing including personal gear.

The fee schedule is as follows:
Camp Fees
Pay by Feb 9 $240
Pay by May 11 $260
Regular Fee (by Jun 15) $270
Webelos who crossed over
in 2010 by Jun 15 $240
Last Minute $300

2nd Week by Jun 15 $205

Adult by June 15 $120

The earlier you get your permission slip and money in by, the lower the price of camp. Permission slips are available on the troop website and at troop meetings.

IMPORTANT: The new BSA medical forms are required starting this year. This means everyone will have to fill out a new Medical Form including Part B - the doctor's signature. The new medical forms are only good for 12 months and everyone's form was dated prior to camp last year, meaning new forms are needed this year. If you child needs a physical for a sport: bring the BSA form along and get it signed at the same time. Also, some pharmacies run free health clinics... You may be able to get the forms signed there.
