Troop Elections

It's almost time to elect new troop leadership! Start thinking about what position you would like. Who do you want as SPL? As Patrol Leader? Want to be Scribe or Historian?

This is NOT a popularity contest. You are choosing who you think will do the best job leading the Troop and helping everyone advance in knowledge and scout spirit. This election will be reviewed by the Troop Committee to ensure the following qualifications have been met.

  1. Scout Spirit -- To lead Scouts in the Scout way one must live in the Scout way. This means following the Scout Oath and Law at all times, not just when it is convenient.
  2. Rank Advancement -- Who has worked to advance in rank and who needs leadership experience to achieve their next rank.
  3. You can only hold a position for 2 consecutive 6 month terms
  4. Minimum rank necessary for the position:
  • SPL = 4 months in Troop & 1st Class Rank or higher
  • ASPL = 4 months in Troop & 2nd Class Rank or higher
  • PL = 3 months in Troop & Tenderfoot or higher
  • APL = 3 months in Troop & Scout or higher
  1. Special circumstances which would prevent the scout from serving or otherwise disqualify scout.
  2. BSA recommends electing scouts who have not served their 2 terms before re-electing a former PL, APL, SPL, or ASPL.

Let Dean know as soon as possible what position you are going to campaign for.

September's Quiz

  1. Where in the world is the Skeleton Coast?
  2. How long -- in pages -- are the British Standards Institution's specifications for preparing a proper cup of tea?
  3. What have scientists determined was inaccurate about the physical appearance of the terrifying velociraptors in the 1993 sci-fi chiller Jurassic Park?

August's Answers: 1) "It's the Hard-Knock Life". 2) The South Pole. 3) Armed warriors found that their swords, which were worn on the left hip, wouldn't get in the way if they swung their right leg over their trusty steed when they climbed aboard.
