Scouting for Food & Whitewater Swimming Pre-Test
March 26-27, 2011

We will be collecting the food in this year’s Scouting for Food (Pack 163 is putting out the bags) on March 26. Afterwards we’ll head out for our March Cabin Camp and on Sunday we’ll go to the Whitewater Aquatic Center to take the Swimming Pre-Tests for Summer Camp.

ALL scouts are encouraged to attend this outing as Swimming Ability is also used by the Troop for outings and we cover swimming requirements from First and Second class at this campout.

NYLT
Ice Cream Social - March 13, 2011 ; Course Dates - June 12-17, 2011

NYLT -- National Youth Leadership Training -- is a week long course that trains the youth (boy scouts & venturing scouts) to run their unit’s programs. NYLT will be the week of June 12 - June 17 at Camp Long Lake.

All scouts First Class or better are encouraged to go to the free Ice Cream Social on March 13, to see what NYLT is about. The Ice Cream Social is at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 20275 Davidson Road, in Brookfield from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

The Troop Committee voted: For the first five scouts that register for BOTH NYLT and Summer Camp... the Troop will pay $100 towards the cost of NYLT.

P163 Crossover
March 19, 2011

Pack 163 will be crossing boys into Boy Scouts on March 19, 2011 and has asked US to put on the Crossover ceremony. We will need boys to speak parts and to “catch” boys crossing into our troop. If you need to do a ceremony for your Communications Merit Badge -- this would be a fabulous opportunity.

Troop 5 will be doing a program starting at 4 pm; the Pack will be eating dinner at 5 pm and the crossover should start at 5:30 pm. Please arrive at Bethesda Elementary School at 5 pm to help get things set up.

Badlands Trip
June 30 - July 8, 2011

The Badlands Trip dates are set. The trip will be June 30 - July 8, 2011 with the Canoe Outing July 6 - 8, 2011. If you have already made your deposit and cannot come because of the date shift, be sure to let Liz know! Permission Slips are available at Troop Meetings.

Troop Elections

March is Troop Election Month! Start thinking about who you want as SPL and ASPL; Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader. Want to hold a leadership position yourself? Need a leadership position for your next rank advancement? Elections will be held at the March 22nd Troop Meeting -- we need as many scouts there as possible.

OA Elections will occur the same night. If you want to be in the OA, see Dean to check if your eligible and to let him know you’re interested.

Adult Coordinators Needed

There are still a few outings that do not have adult coordinators. What’s the job of the adult coordinator? To help the scout that’s coordinating the outing: offering suggestions for campgrounds, keeping on-top of the scout to make sure tasks are done, making reservations since most places will not accept a youth doing so.

The next outing coming up that does not have a coordinator is the April Kalahari Outing. Please see Jim Schramke if you are interesting in taking this outing or for what other outings need help.

New Round Table Location

The new, new location didn’t work out so well either, so Onatah District is trying again. The new, new, new location is... Our very own St. John Neumann’s! Round Table will be at SJN starting with the March Round Table.

Life to Eagle Workshop
April 16, 2011

Parents, Life ranked scouts, and troop leaders are encouraged to attend the Life to Eagle Workshop to receive important training on the do’s and don’ts of obtaining the Eagle Rank. Two sessions are available on April 16 -- 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM -- and it is being held at Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Pewaukee. Space is limited so register early.

Summer Camp
July 17-23, 2011

It’s time to sign up for Summer Camp again. Permission slips are available. Remember... Those of you who sold popcorn and wreaths... For every $100 you sold, you earned $5 off of summer camp up to $20! Liz has the list if you can’t remember.

Camp fees increased this year. To get the discounts you must be paid in full by the deadline.

Early Bird (by May 10) = $290
Regular Price (by June 14) = $310
At the Door = $330
Webelos Crossing Over = $270
Second Week at Camp = $225
