30 Badlands Trip Leaves

Bike Outing
May 14-15, 2011

We’ll be biking the Glacial Drumlin State Trail on May 14-15. Before we leave, we’ll go over the safety requirements and some of the Cycling Merit Badge requirements. You will be able to get at least 2 10-mile bike rides in on this trip. Scouts who would like to try for the 50-mile ride need to let Liz know by the May 10 troop meeting.

All scouts and parents who are biking are required to wear a bike helmet. You need to have your own bike and helmet for this trip. Parents: we need a couple of adults to ride the trail with Liz and the scouts.

Meet on May 14 at 8:30 am at ETC. We’ll return on May 15 in the afternoon. Cost of the trip is $25.

Badlands Trip
June 30 - July 8, 2011

The Badlands Trip dates are set. The trip will be June 30 - July 8, 2011 with the Canoe Outing July 6 - 8, 2011. If you have already made your deposit and cannot come because of the date shift, be sure to let Liz know! Permission Slips are available at Troop Meetings.

IF YOU PAID THE DEPOSIT, YOU STILL NEED TO FILL OUT A PERMISSION SLIP FOR THE BADLANDS TRIP AND CANOE OUTING.

May Round Table
May 4, 2011

At the May Round Table we will be participating in a Dutch Oven Dessert Contest! There will be a cookout with hot dogs and hamburgers cooked by the OA. Also a fire and flag retirement ceremony. EVERYONE is encouraged to come to our final Round Table of the year.

Adult Coordinators Needed

There are still a few outings that do not have adult coordinators. What’s the job of the adult coordinator? To help the scout that’s coordinating the outing: offering suggestions for campgrounds, keeping on-top of the scout to make sure tasks are done, making reservations since most places will not accept a youth doing so.

NYLT
Course Dates - June 12-17, 2011

NYLT -- National Youth Leadership Training -- is a week long course that trains the youth (boy scouts & venturing scouts) to run their unit’s programs. NYLT will be the week of June 12 - June 17 at Camp Long Lake.

The Troop Committee voted: For the first five scouts that register for BOTH NYLT and Summer Camp... the Troop will pay $100 towards the cost of NYLT.

Summer Camp

It’s time to sign up for Summer Camp again. Permission slips are available. Remember... Those of you who sold popcorn and wreaths... For every $100 you sold, you earned $5 off of summer camp up to $20! Liz has the list if you can’t remember.

Camp fees increased this year. To get the discounts you must be paid in full by the deadline.

Regular Price (by June 14) = $310
