Canoe Trip
July 6-8, 2011

Meeting up with the returning Badlands Trip, we’ll be canoeing on the Kickapoo River! Don’t canoe? Aren’t a swimmer? There’s hiking and fishing available also! To canoe, you must be a Beginner or a Swimmer. Have the swimming and canoeing merit badge and are a Swimmer? You can Kayak instead.

Cost: $40 (+ $5 for kayaking). Permission Slips are available at the Troop Meetings.

Sign Up ASAP if you are going! Permission Slips due to Liz by June 13!

Drug Awareness Requirement
June 7, 2011

We are having an officer from the Waukesha Police Department at the June 7th troop meeting to cover Second Class Requirement 9a (participate in a school, community or troop program on the dangers of using drugs/alcohol/tobacco).

There are a number of you that need this requirement. Please be sure you are at the meeting right at 6:30 pm so we can get right into the program. Thank you.

Birthdays

Webelos Jam-O-Ree
September 9-11, 2011

We’ve signed up to run an Obstacle Course. Start thinking about what challenges you want the Webelos (I and II) to go through.

Adult Coordinators Needed

There are still a few outings that do not have adult coordinators. What’s the job of the adult coordinator? To help the scout that’s coordinating the outing: offering suggestions for campgrounds, keeping on-top of the scout to make sure tasks are done, making reservations since most places will not accept a youth doing so.

Winter Cabin Sign Up
August 22, 2011

We need an adult and scout (or two) to attend the Winter Cabin Sign Up on August 22nd. This is where we get signed up for a cabin at Camp Long Lake in during the winter months. See Boni if you would be interested in doing this.

Scoutrageous
August 24, 2011

Come one, come all! Come see what the 2011-2012 Potawatomi Area Council will be doing! Scoutrageous is the kick off to the year. Lots of interesting information will be handed out.

Liz needs someone to attend the Fall Product Sale training for her. If you’re interested, please let her know.

August Court of Honor & Adventure Rock Overnight
August 28, 2011 & August 28-29, 2011

Heidi Pelrine would be interested in any adult that might like to help a scout coordinate the Court of Honor. Most scouts use Court of Honors to fulfill a requirement for the Communications Merit Badge. This is the Court of Honor where Summer Camp awards are presented, so there can be a lot to announce.

The last outing of the summer is an overnight at Adventure Rock. We need an adult to coordinate this outing.

June’s Quiz

  1. What slugger hit the first home run checked by instant replay in major league baseball history?
  2. What state capital was originally known as Crabtown?
  3. The names of which two neighboring countries begin with the letter "Z"?

May’s Answers: 1) Sid. 2) They're from famous sites around the U.S. (one from each state) and the world. 3) Generally, about once a month.
