Summer Camp - Trailer Pack & Bag Check-In
July 14, 2012

Everyone who is attending Summer Camp must bring their gear and have it checked & checked-in on Saturday, July 14 at 10 am. Once gear has been checked in, the trailer will be packed.

You will not get to take your gear home after it’s checked and packed! Gear will be checked for contraband (food, electronics, etc) and for missing items. This in an important part of going to summer camp.

Summer Camp
July 15-21, 2012

We’ll ride together to Camp Long Lake. We’re still looking for parents willing to drive on Sunday and Saturday. See Fred at the July 10th troop meeting if you’re able to drive.

There are two groups going up: an early group and a late group.
Early group: space for 9 scouts: Meet at 9:30 am at ETC. Sign up at the July 10 Troop Meeting!
Later group: everyone else: Meet at 10:30 am at ETC.

Returning: Saturday, July 21 around early afternoon.

IMPORTANT: We’re still missing a number of scouts’ Class C (doctor signed medical forms). These must be turned into the troop BEFORE the trailer pack. You CANNOT go to camp without it.

Summer Camp Parent Day
July 20, 2012

Want to know what Summer Camp is like? Spend Friday night at camp! The cost is $15, there will be a buffet dinner and an evening campfire put on by the troops. You can camp in the troop’s site (bring your own tent). Then help break camp and come back on Saturday.

Sign up with Liz at the July 10 troop meeting.

Webelos Day at
Summer Camp
July 18, 2012

Webelos can visit Troop 4 on Wednesday, July 18 for Webelos visitation day. Please let Liz know how many will be coming so we can have enough food.

Medication Forms

The Troop’s changed their medication form slightly. These DO NOT replace the Class A or C medical forms! They are a supplement for the troop’s use.

OTC Exclusion Form -- Required once a year with the medical forms. Tells us what Over The Counter medicine the scout CANNOT have.

Prescription Authorization Form -- Required for every outing where a scout must take medication.

The new forms are available both on-line and at the troop meeting. Please fill out the OTC Exemption and turn it in.

Vehicle Information

To be put on the Tour Permit and to be reimbursed for driving miles per the troop policy, you must have your vehicle information on file with the troop. Forms are available at the troop meetings. Please fill one out and turn it in.

Troop Committee & Parent Meeting
September 9, 2012

The next committee meeting is September 9th. All adults are welcome (and encouraged) to attend, especially if you have any concerns about recent outings or news stories.

Sign Up Early, Sign Up Often

With the size of the Troop growing, it is even more important that we have early and accurate count of who is going on the outings. Please sign up as soon as possible when permission slips come out.

Accurate counts don’t just affect buying the food. Camp site selection, drivers, tour permits, activities can all be affected by the number of people on the outing.

Adults Needed

We need adults willing to work with a scout to coordinate an outing. You do not have to attend the outing, but help the scout with things like making reservations. Outings Needing Adults: November (Creep-o-Ree) and December (Roller Skating)

July’s Quiz

  1. Where in the U.S. were the first commercially produced sunglasses sold?
  2. In what shape was Fort McHenry -- the birthplace of the U.S. national anthem -- built?
  3. What TV and movie series featured a super-secret undercover government agency known by the acronym IMF?

June’s Answers: 1) Sloth. 2) Jimmy Carter in 1979. 3) It was taped over. Only a two-minute segment of the 1967 game is known to exist.
