Pack 4 Bonfire
August 25, 2012

Pack 4 will be having a bonfire at ETC on August 25 and would like some scouts to help teach the Whittling Chit to Bears & Webelos. Some assistance and a skit at the campfire would be welcomed also. This counts as service hours.

Sign up at the Troop Meetings. See Liz with questions.

September Round Table
September 5, 2012

Troop 4 has signed up to run the Boy Scout breakout at the September Round Table. We need four to six scouts willing to show a skill -- of your choosing -- to the Boy Scout leaders and possibly run the flag ceremony.

OA members... This is a great opportunity to attend the Onatah District OA meeting as well. The OA meeting starts at 6:30 pm (before the Round Table).

There is a sign up at troop meetings. See Boni for more information.

Webelos Jamoree

Cost: $15 / person
Where: Menomonee Park
Time: Meet at ETC at 4:30 on September 7th. Departing at 5 pm. Returning to ETC around 11 am September 9th.

Troop Committee & Parent Meeting
September 9, 2012

The next committee meeting is September 9th at 6:30 pm. All adults are welcome (and encouraged) to attend, especially if you have any concerns about recent outings or news stories.

Life to Eagle Workshop
September 23, 2012

ATTENTION ALL LIFE SCOUTS! If you and your parents haven’t attended a Life to Eagle Workshop there’s another one coming up. The workshop answers questions about the Eagle Project Workbook, what qualifies as an Eagle project, and gives tips and hints about things to look out for as you work towards Eagle!

Flyers are available. Sign up directly with the Council -- space is limited so sign up soon.

Sign Up Early, Sign Up Often

With the size of the Troop growing, it is even more important that we have early and accurate count of who is going on the outings. Please sign up as soon as possible when permission slips come out.

Accurate counts don’t just affect buying the food. Camp site selection, drivers, tour permits, activities can all be affected by the number of people on the outing.

Adults Needed

We need adults willing to work with a scout to coordinate an outing. You do not have to attend the outing, but help the scout with things like making reservations. Outings Needing Adults: November (Creep-o-Ree) and December (Roller Skating)

August’s Quiz

  1. What computer whiz, as a young prankster, phoned the Pope in Vatican City pretending to be Henry Kissinger calling from a summit meeting in Moscow?
  2. What is unusual about the shape of the droppings -- or scat -- of the wombat?
  3. How big in diameter are the leaves of the giant Amazon water lily, the largest of all aquatic plants?

July’s Answers: 1) On the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey. 2) A five-pointed star. 3) Mission Impossible. IMF stands for Impossible Missions Force.
