National Ski Patrol Service Opportunity
September 22, 2012

They are looking for 12-15 people to volunteer as patients for their Outdoor Emergency Care Refresher course. Meet at Olympia Ski Hill in Oconomowoc. It will be a full day from 7 am to 4 pm. Lunch will be provided. Dress comfortably and be prepared for the weather -- you will be sitting on the ground or standing in brush depending on what the instructors have in store for you.

Sign up with Mr. Poser.

Life to Eagle Workshop
September 23, 2012

ATTENTION ALL LIFE SCOUTS! If you and your parents haven’t attended a Life to Eagle Workshop there’s another one coming up. The workshop answers questions about the Eagle Project Workbook, what qualifies as an Eagle project, and gives tips and hints about things to look out for as you work towards Eagle!

Flyers are available. Sign up directly with the Council -- space is limited so sign up soon.

Troop Elections
September 25, 2012

Troop Elections are coming up! Think about if you want to be SPL, ASPL, patrol leader... Or what appointed positions you might like. Nominations and campaign speeches will be on September 18th; elections will be on September 25th.

Suggestions?

We’re almost out of planned activities... The troop calendar runs out in December. But that’s ok... The planning lock-in will be October 26th. The suggestion box will be out at troop meetings from now until then. Anyone can write down a suggestion for outing or activity and drop it in the box.

The Council is putting on a Merit Badge Midway. Work on two merit badges! It’s October 6th at South High School - check in begins at 8:30 am with classes running until 3 pm. Bring a bag lunch. Cost is only $15 (merit badges marked with * have a $10 additional fee for materials).

St. John Neumann has once again asked for Scouts to walk with their float in the Waukesha Christmas Parade. More information and a sign-up will be available later.

First Aid Merit Badge Clinic
December 8, 2012

The Council is running the First Aid Merit Badge on December 8, 2012. Because this is limited to the first 50 scouts, you need to sign up through the troop know by September 25 -- at the latest. Cost is $20. You need to have made your personal first aid kits and bring them to the clinic. Also, read the First Aid Merit Badge book before the clinic.

Sign Up Early, Sign Up Often

With the size of the Troop growing, it is even more important that we have early and accurate count of who is going on the outings. Please sign up as soon as possible when permission slips come out.

Accurate counts don’t just affect buying the food. Camp site selection, drivers, tour permits, activities can all be affected by the number of people on the outing.

Adults Needed

We need adults willing to work with a scout to coordinate an outing. You do not have to attend the outing, but help the scout with things like making reservations. Outings Needing Adults: November (Creep-o-Ree) and December (Roller Skating)
